Ryan is married to his wife Vicki, who was a Registered Nurse prior to becoming a stay-at-home mom. Together they have four children, Blake, Grant, Kennedy and Camryn. They reside in Gallipolis, where they are active in their local church.1602133_495532457229956_1526841107_o

In 1991 Ryan graduated from Gallia Academy High School and then attended The Ohio State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Upon graduation, Ryan worked in Gallia County as a Financial Advisor at Advest, Inc. and in 2005 he joined Smith Financial Advisors of Hilliard Lyons as a Vice President and Partner. Ryan still operates in that capacity today.

Ryan has been committed to bettering his community and that is reflected in his involvement. In 2005, Ryan was awarded the WSAZ HometownSmith Daughter Hero Award for his selfless actions to improve his area. Education has always been a priority for Ryan who was twice elected to the Gallipolis City School Board, where he sought to expand educational opportunities for Gallipolis students. Ryan has also been dedicated to industry in the area, serving as President of the Gallia County Chamber of Commerce and the Gallia County Community Improvement Corporation. He was also a board member of the Holzer Consolidated Health System, one of the largest employers and healthcare providers in southern Ohio.

In 2012, Ryan was appointed to the Ohio House of Representatives after winning the GOP Primary. Since then, Ryan served on the Education, Finance, Joint Medicaid Oversight (JMOC), Government Oversight and Accountability, Joint Educational Oversight Committee (JEOC) and Controlling Board committees. Ryan is currently the Ohio House Finance Chairman, where he oversees Ohio’s budgeting and appropriations. In the House, Ryan has championed educational progress, economic development and efforts to fight Ohio’s drug epidemic.
